Expert Canvas Stretching & Framing in Brisbane

Brisbane’s climate is tough on canvas. Humidity can cause unstretched or poorly stretched canvas to sag or ripple over time, while direct UV exposure through windows fades colour faster than in cooler climates.

Mobile Framing provides canvas stretching and canvas framing across Brisbane, with an on-site consultation to assess your piece, your space, and how much light it’s likely to get before we recommend a stretching or framing approach. Whether it’s a fresh canvas print, a piece bought from a local artist, or an older canvas that’s started to sag, we bring the right materials and technique to get it properly tensioned and displayed.

Why Canvas Needs Proper Stretching & Framing in Brisbane

Canvas that isn’t stretched correctly will sag or ripple over time, and in Brisbane’s humidity that process happens faster than in drier climates. Poor tensioning also leaves the fabric vulnerable to warping around the frame edges, which is hard to fix once it’s set in. Direct sunlight through windows adds another layer of risk, fading colour and weakening fibres with prolonged UV exposure. Proper stretching keeps the canvas taut and evenly tensioned across the frame, while the right glazing or framing choice helps protect it from light and moisture damage, so the piece holds its look for years rather than months.

Our Brisbane Canvas Stretching Process

From consultation to final hang, here’s what to expect when you book canvas stretching with Mobile Framing in Brisbane.

On-Site Consultation

We assess your canvas, discuss where it’ll be displayed, and factor in light exposure and humidity when recommending a stretching or framing approach.
Stretching & Tensioning

The canvas is stretched evenly across a solid frame, keeping tension consistent so it stays taut without sagging or warping.
Frame or Float Frame Selection

We help you choose between a gallery wrap, floating frame, or traditional frame depending on the look and level of protection you want.
Glazing (If Required)

For pieces facing direct sunlight, we can recommend UV-protective glazing to help slow fading over time.
Final Check & Delivery

We check tension and alignment before the piece is ready to hang, so it’s properly set from day one.

Canvas Framing Options in Brisbane

Different canvases suit different canvas framing approaches, so we tailor the finish to the piece:

Gallery Wrap – Canvas stretched around the frame edges with no visible border, a clean, modern look
Floating Frame – A thin gap between canvas and frame edge, giving a subtle border without covering the artwork
Traditional Frame – Canvas set within a full frame for a more classic, finished presentation
Multi-Canvas Layouts – Split or panel pieces arranged and hung as a cohesive set

Whether it’s a fresh art print or a piece picked up from a local Brisbane artist, we match the canvas framing style to the space it’s going into.

Whatever the piece, our Brisbane team handles stretching, framing, and hanging in one visit. And if you’ve got more than canvas to sort, we cover custom picture framing, jersey framing, and picture hanging across Brisbane too, so your whole collection can go up at once. One call. Every service you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Canvas Stretching Brisbane

Does Brisbane’s climate affect canvas artwork?

Yes, humidity can cause poorly stretched canvas to sag over time, and direct UV exposure through windows fades colour faster than in cooler, drier climates. We factor these elements into our stretching and glazing recommendations.

What’s the difference between a gallery wrap and a floating frame?

A gallery wrap stretches the canvas around the frame edges with no visible border, while a floating frame leaves a thin gap between canvas and frame for a subtle border without covering the artwork.

Can you stretch and frame a canvas I already own?

Yes, including older canvases that have started to sag or warp. We assess the piece on-site and recommend the right stretching and framing approach to restretch and protect it.

Do you frame canvas prints from local Brisbane artists or galleries?

Yes, we regularly stretch and frame locally sourced art and prints and can advise on the best framing style for the piece and the space it’s going into.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mobile framing did a great job of hanging my artwork as I had awkward spots where I wanted pictures hung eg stairwell. They were on time, pleasant, and left no mess. I have now used them a couple of times to frame artworks and hang them and will use them again when needed.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was so happy with the service I received. I had an online quote within a matter of hours. The large artwork was collected the day after I agreed to the quote. The framer arrived at the specified time and discussed colour options. My painting was returned a week later in the floating frame i selected. I'm so happy with my decision to frame the piece. It now looks complete. 👌
